Besiktas are in talks with Manchester United over the possibility of signing Bastian Schweinsteiger.

According to the Turkish Super Lig broadcaster LigTV Besiktas have held talks with United with a view to loaning the 31-year-old on a season-long loan.

The report goes onto state that Besiktas are looking to mark the new season in their new stadium with a high-profile signing.

The Express however claim that Besiktas’ fierce rivals Fenerbahce have also been linked with a move for the Germany international.

The news comes amid a report in the Daily Record which states that United’s newly appointed manager Jose Mourinho is ready to offload Schweinsteiger, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Juan Mata over the summer transfer window.

Both Fenerbahce and Besiktas will be playing Champions League football next season and are currently the bookmakers favourites to lock horns in the 2016-17 title race as well.
