Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian could be set for a return to Italy with Inter Milan showing an interest according to the Mirror.

Per the source, the 26-year-old has been linked with a move after struggling for playing time at United this season making just one appearance and he was dropped from the match day squad against Stoke City on Sunday.

Inter club director Piero Ausilio hinted that the club will be targeting at least two players from a shortlist including Darmian, Stephan Lichsteiner and Domenico Criscito.

The Serie A outfit have been closely linked with all three players over recent weeks and when asked about interest in the trio by the Corriere dello Sport he responded by saying: “More than one I’d say… half. We evaluated some situations that were proposed to us, but then nothing came of them.

“The January transfer window is always a little odd, because there are only so many players available and we can only consider quality players who really will bring something extra to the team.”

In other Man United transfer news the Red Devils are reported to be scouting Goncalo Guedes according to the Metro [via the Record].
