Chelsea’s formation change has left the team in a state of flux, with plenty of players like Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso getting their first extended runs in the team, while others like Branislav Ivanovic are suddenly missing out.
This reshuffle seems like it’s going to force a reshaping of the squad, with Ivanovic one of those linked with the exit door at Stamford Bridge after falling totally out of favour in the last month under Antonio Conte.
While that is a surprise in itself considering the Serbian’s previously untouchable status, what is more surprising is that it is Tottenham’s Ben Davies who is being linked with replacing Ivanovic on sites like Goal.
Davies struggles to get ahead of Danny Rose to start for Spurs, and would likely face the same issues at Chelsea.
Furthermore, his arrival would only serve to damage the development of Ola Aina, the academy product who can play on either wide of the defence.
Even if Chelsea were able to get Davies for a seriously bargain price, this would be an odd move.
