Setback in Arsenal and Chelsea’s pursuit of PSG star

Posted by

PSG’s love of spending big on Europe’s star players has driven up prices across the continent, and they’ve pipped Premier League teams to plenty of signings over the years.

However the benefit of this is that they can only play so many of them, meaning there are plenty of talents like Kinglsey Coman who get left sudelined and end up having success elsewhere.

Blaise Matuidi has hardly been out of favour as one of the Paris side’s most regular starters in recent years, but Unai Emery’s arrival from Sevilla with his favourite Gregorz Krychowiak in tow has pushed the French midfielder down the pecking order.

It seemed as though this might open the door for a Premier League bid for Matuidi, who has been linked with English teams ever since his emergence at St Etienne. But reports in Le Parisien are that his agent Mino Raiola has insisted that the Frenchman will be signing a new deal at the Parc-de-Princes, forcing Chelsea, Arsenal and any other club interested in him to look elsewhere.
