Manchester United monitoring contract situation of £54M striker who has scored 20 goals in 20 games this season

Manchester United are plotting a move for PSG striker Edinson Cavani, according to the Express.

The Express report that Jose Mourinho is monitoring Cavani’s contract situation in Paris, and may make a move to sign him if the Uruguayan is unable to agree an extension to his current deal. They believe that Cavani is unsure whether he wants to continue at PSG or seek a move elsewhere.

Cavani joined PSG in the summer of 2013 for what the Express report as a £54 million fee. He has had an electric start to this campaign, having scored 20 goals in 20 games in all competitions. Only Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored more goals in Europe’s top five leagues this term.

The 29-year-old played second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the first few years of his time at PSG. Since Ibrahimovic has departed, Cavani has started to replicate the form he showed at Napoli that justified that astronomical price tag. If the Express are to be believed, however, he could be set to reunite with his former team-mate.
