16-goal Manchester United talisman to reject £120m offer and sign extension to 2018

Manchester United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reportedly set to snub a money-spinning £120m offer from China and sign an extension at Old Trafford.

The 35-year-old has made an excellent start to life in Manchester with 16 goals in 25 games for United so far this season as he has firmly established himself as the figurehead of Jose Mourinho’s side.

Having overcome a goal drought with an excellent run of form in recent weeks, he has reiterated his quality and influence regardless of his advancing years, and United will undoubtedly hope to see him stay beyond this season.

According to The Daily Mail, the Chinese government are trying to make that as difficult as possible with a big-money £120m offer to try and turn his head.

However, it’s claimed that both parties are keen on signing an extension on the one-year deal that the former Swedish international agreed to last summer after joining the Red Devils on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.

Ibrahimovic has always insisted that he will stay at United provided that he is having a positive effect on the team and taking them closer to reaching their objectives.

Three league wins in a row have helped them move to within three points of the top four ahead of Sunday’s fixtures, and with the former AC Milan and Barcelona star playing a leading role, all concerned will hope that he can continue between now and the end of the season.

If that is the case, then it’s certainly difficult to see Ibrahimovic opting to move to China just yet. Further, given his commercial appeal and global stardom, it’s unlikely that the offer to move to the CSL will go anywhere any time soon and so it will likely have to wait until his job at Manchester United is done.
