Manchester United given boost as La Liga giants cool their interest in rejuvenated centre-back

Manchester United have been handed a major boost as Valencia no longer appear to be interested in defender Marcos Rojo, according to MARCA.

Rojo has become a cornerstone in Jose Mourinho’s defence in recent weeks, forming a near-formidable partnership with Phil Jones. In his two previous seasons at Old Trafford, there have been question marks over his defensive ability, with the 26-year-old often being seen as a liability. However, his performances so far this campaign have been mature and assured.

It is for that exact reason that the United faithful will no doubt be so keen to keep hold of Rojo; so they will be pleased to hear that Valencia are no longer interested in signing him.

MARCA believe that he was seen as an option for the La Liga side in the summer window as they looked to reinforce their defence. The Spanish newspaper has now, however, confirmed with representatives close to Rojo that there has been no approach made for his services. It does not appear as though a move to the Estadio de Mestalla is going to happen any time soon for Rojo.
