Arsenal given clear run in pursuit of £30m target after receiving major transfer boost

Arsenal are reportedly set to make a £30m offer to Wolfsburg to sign Julian Draxler next month, and they have seemingly seen their main competition drop out.

The 23-year-old has struggled this season, as he has registered just a single assist and no goals in 13 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit.

It follows on from his comments this past summer in which he essentially revealed that he didn’t see his long-term future at the club, and as per The Express, it will lead to Arsenal attempting to prise him away from Wolfsburg in the January transfer window.

Further, Calciomercato claim that Juventus, who had been interested in the German international too, have decided against trying to sign him and so in turn it looks as though Arsene Wenger will be well placed to make a transfer happen.

However, it’s added that Paris Saint-Germain could ruin Arsenal’s plans with Unai Emery also a keen admirer of Draxler, and so it remains to be seen whether or not a move to England comes to fruition for the talented playmaker.

Following back-to-back defeats in the Premier League to Everton and Manchester City, the confidence and belief in Arsenal’s title hopes have been drained dramatically.

As a result, with the pressure building on Wenger and his players to prove that they’re not going to bottle it in a Premier League title race yet again, a big January signing would be a major boost for all concerned.

Nevertheless, Wenger isn’t one to make a signing just for the sake of it and so the French tactician will likely analyse it entirely before deciding on whether or not Draxler can make a significant impact for his side and is worth the touted £30m fee.
