Tottenham winger Erik Lamela could be set to quit the club in search of a move to River Plate, according to The Sun.

Lamela moved to White Hart Lane in the summer of 2013, for what the BBC reported to be a £25.7 million fee. However, he has failed to replicate the sort of form that made him one of Europe’s most exciting young talents in a Tottenham shirt.

He could well be set to leave the club. As per The Sun, Lamela, who has been out with a hip injury since October, is home stick and could subsequently seek a move back to his home country Argentina.

The Sun believe that Lamela could be a summer target for his former side River Plate. Lamela is a product of the River Plate academy, and made 36 appearances for the Argentine club, finding the back of the net on four occasions. Lamela’s time a Tottenham could be about to come to an end.
