Chelsea prepare improved bid for want-away star but deal may hinge on Willian transfer

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to table a second bid to seal the transfer of Wilfried Zaha after an initial offer was rejected by Crystal Palace.

One of the finest attacking players in the Premier League last season, it is little surprise to see Zaha continue to attract interest from bigger clubs after plenty of speculation in recent times.

One such report from the Daily Mirror appears to give Chelsea hope in landing Zaha as they claim he’s so desperate for a move to Stamford Bridge that he could hand in a transfer request at Selhurst Park.

According to the Sun, however, a deal to bring in the Ivory Coast international could be complicated by the fact that Chelsea would likely have to sell Willian first before realistically being able to come back with enough of an improved offer.

The 25-year-old would undoubtedly be an ideal replacement for Willian if he does move on, with various reports also suggesting that remains a possibility.

The Times link the Brazil international with Manchester United and Real Madrid as some at Chelsea are concerned by his late return to pre-season training.

The Sun also mention Tottenham as being interested in Zaha, so this could be an intriguing saga to follow in the next few days as we near the August 9 transfer deadline.
