Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has named Marcus Rashford as the player who inspired the team to a dramatic win against Liverpool in the FA Cup.

Against Liverpool, Rashford scored a goal in extra time. Even though he was absent for the most of the match, he made a shot count when it mattered the most.

In the 115th minute, the 26-year-old scored to tie the score at 3-3 for the Red Devils.

Even before the game ended, a lot of people were criticising the Manchester-born star. As ten Hag put it, he missed a few good chances, but what made the difference was his drive.

Erik ten Hag was full of praise for Rashford

The Dutchman told the BBC that Rashford was an inspiration to his players following the match.

“Rashford had his moments, I thought he was very good. Today he misses but he is always there which is good. It inspired the rest of the team to keep going. He gave the example to keep going and believe.”

Rashford set an excellent example for the Man United players, who appeared to be playing well even in the second half of extra-time.

Rashford impressed Erik ten Hag.

Even though the English winger was clearly having trouble with cramps in the last few minutes, he continued to play well for his side and give it his all.

Erik ten Hag praised his team’s attitude

Ten Hag continued by saying that despite Liverpool being the overwhelming favourites to win the game, the players showed incredible resiliency and resolve.

Man United’s mentality has never been one of their strong points. But they overcame their mental blocks and fought hard against Liverpool.

The win against Jurgen Klopp’s team could turnaround Man United’s season as they are still in the fight for a place in top-four of the Premier League and challenging for FA Cup success this season.
