Whilst Roman Pavlyuchenko finds his scoring touch Robbie Keane continues to seamlessly adapt to life north of the border. The loan move from White Hart Lane to Parkhead seems to have been an easy one for the Irishman who continues to find the back of the net with alarming ease regardless of the fact that Celtic now have no hope of capturing the SPL title.
However they do have a chance of winning the Scottish FA Cup especially after they easily overcame Kilmarnock to book their place in the last four of the competition thanks chiefly to the efforts of Mr. Keane.
The 29 year old’s hat-trick may make Harry Redknapp reconsider his long term plans for the Tottenham striker even though his current crop of White Hart Lane front men are also doing a fine job in north London. Keane has now managed a very respectable eight goals from seven starts which is an impressive strike rate even in the relatively average Scottish leagues.
It seems that Robbie Keane may well have a future away from White Hart Lane after all. The Irishman has had a hard time of it in recent seasons. A failed move to Liverpool was followed by a return to Tottenham that failed to inspire and left Harry Redknapp to make the tough decision to allow the 29 year old to make a loan move up north.
After managing nine goals for the Tottenham from a respectable 18 starts Robbie decided the pull of a move to his boyhood heroes (lets not even have THAT conversation) was too good to pass up and whilst the SPL title dream is over for this term it hasn’t stopped him from going goal crazy managing five goals in his first six starts.
The two goals at Falkirk show what Robbie does best. Both finishes show a fantastic ability to control the ball in close quarters. Both goals show how Keane can take his chances when he is in the mood. Yes these goals are against a fairly average side but both are very competent efforts that show that the Spurs man still has a lot to offer and it seems the Dublin born striker may well have done enough to persuade the Parkhead side to consider making a move to sign up the Tottenham man on a permanent deal.
Irish international collects ‘boyhood football allegiances” like you or I might collect some very collectable things, we were going to say Stamps, but no one really collects them anymore.
Even Spurs fans will be amused by Robbie’s attempts to open a bottle of lucozade, still with a bit of help he manages it in the end. Luckily he looks far sharper on the field of play during matches than in the warm up.
Again, thanks to 101greatgoals for leading us to this press conference. Peter Crouch prepares to re-ignite ‘Little and Large‘ partnership with Jermain Defoe, but just where does that leave Robbie Keane? Three man attack perhaps?
Harry Redknapp’s side win the Barclays Asian Cup with a pretty straightforward win over Hull, Robbie Keane netted twice and perhaps helps his case to be part of a three man attack for the upcoming season.
