Everton Manager Denies Chelsea Deals To Sign Highly-Rated England Duo

Blues don’t have first refusal on Everton youngsters.Everton manager Roberto Martinez insists that recent deals between his side and Chelsea have not led to any special relationship regarding transfers, according to the Daily Star.

The Toffees boss responded to claims that Chelsea may now have first refusal on two of Everton’s most highly-rated young players, England duo Ross Barkley and John Stones.

The two are among the most highly regarded up-and-coming talents in the English game at the moment and have been linked with top sides in the past, though there is supposedly not a deal in place for them to move to Stamford Bridge at any point in the future.

This speculation arose after Chelsea sold Romelu Lukaku to the Goodison Park outfit this season, whilst also sending promising Ghanian winger Christian Atsu to Merseyside on a season-long loan deal.

These two deals significantly strengthen Martinez’s team ahead of the new season, but the Spaniard has firmly stated that the two clubs do not have any kind of special relationship regarding transfers, as Chelsea have with Eredivisie side Vitesse, who act as a feeder club and who take a large number of Blues players on loan.

“We have a good relationship and a professional relationship and I want to believe that they feel that they can trust us in sending players out on loan,” he said.

“I don’t think that relationship goes any further.

“The chairman has been instrumental on forging that relationship more than anyone.

“He has developed that bridge between the two clubs and there is a possibility for both to use it in a good way, but there is no commitment in any sort of future deals.”
