Former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino hopes to lure the 24 year old to White Hart Lane as chairman Daniel Levy sanctions a £16m bid for the French international battler.
Schneiderlin took part in Southampton’s opening weekend defeat to Liverpool and manager Ronald Koeman has insisted that the player is not for sale though this has apparently not put off Pochettino’s advances.
The former Strasbourg man claims that he had a gentleman’s agreement with the south-coast side and as such a firm bid for the player may be tricky for the club to turn down.
Morgan Schneiderlin has given Southampton six seasons solid service, playing a pivotal role in taking the club from League One to the upper reaches of the Premier League and having forced his way into Didier Deschamps’ World Cup finals squad the player may feel his impetus will be checked if he doesn’t move to a ‘bigger’ club.
The north London side are likely to consider selling Brazilian Sandro to Napoli if they manage to land Schneiderlin.
