The 20 year old winger, dubbed the new Cristiano Ronaldo, is a player who has generated a great deal of interest over the past year and whilst his Eredivisie want him to stay it’s entirely plausible that a sale may be imminent.
Pochettino has made his interest in the wide-man well known and Spurs have launched a £15m bid for the World Cup star.
The Argentine manager wants to strengthen his options in wide-attacking roles with the likes of Aaron Lennon, Nacer Chadli and Andros Townsend all failing to impress last term.
Man United are also thought to be keen on Depay, who scored twice in Brazil as Louis van Gaal’s side secured a third place finish at the World Cup finals.
Tottenham have addressed their weak defence in the summer transfer window, bringing in Swansea City pair Ben Davies and Michel Vorm as well as Sporting Lisbon’s Eric Dier, Pochettino may now look to do likewise for his attack.
