Valencia star Nicolas Otamendi wants any potential transfer to be sorted out before August 18, reports MARCA.
He has already been linked to the Red Devils by the Metro, and that date is important as it is when the La Liga side play in their Champions League qualifier. If the defender takes part in that match then he will be cup tied for the competition, possibly putting off the Red Devils or any other top side who is currently eyeing a move for the 27-year-old.
There could well be others interested in the Argentina international after his stellar season last time round. Valencia conceded just 32 goals in the 38 La Liga games, and Otamendi played 35 of those matches in the heart of their defence.
The Red Devils are in need of a player of this calibre for their back line after having to rely heavily on goalkeeper David De Gea last season. Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, and Jonny Evans all looked error prone at times in the campaign, and Otamendi could be perfect to add a sense of calm to the back four.
