Gianluca Di Marzio tweeted a snap of the Italy international allegedly on his way to Manchester to undergo his medical with the Premier League giants:

Sky Sport Italia [via Sky Sports] state that the Red Devils have agreed a £12.7m fee and the right-back’s transfer to Old Trafford could therefore be confirmed within the new few days.

Earlier today, the 25-year-old couldn’t hide his elation at an imminent move to England’s top flight, as he spoke with Sky Sport Italia reporters, and seemed to all but confirm that he would be walking out at the Theatre of Dreams next season.

“I’m very excited, we’ll face this new adventure,” as quoted by the International Business Times.

“It’s a dream, I’m superstitious so I won’t say anything until the signatures [are signed], let’s wait. I say thank you to Torino and their fans who have been great these years.”

Manchester United – if reports prove correct – could field a significantly altered back-line in the 2015-16 campaign, with three defenders, including Darmian, seemingly at the top of Louis van Gaal’s summer wish list.

Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos has been heavily linked with a Santiago Bernabeu departure in the coming weeks, and reportedly ordered Los Blancos chiefs to negotiate only with van Gaal [via BBC Sport].

Meanwhile, Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi is said to be in talks over a switch to Old Trafford; however, Chelsea may be set to sabotage their rival’s hopes of sealing the Argentina international’s signature after the Express claimed the Blues had contacted the centre-back’s agent.
