Arsenal and Chelsea BEATEN to the signing of talented Serie A youngster

Barclays Premier League duo Arsenal and Chelsea are set to miss out on the signing of highly-rated Cagliari midfielder Godfred Donsah.

According to reports in Italy [via talkSPORT], Serie A outfit Bologna have reportedly agreed a £5million fee for the 19-year-old and the player is set to finalise personal terms and undergo a medical and complete the deal before the transfer window closes next week.

The teenager enjoyed a breakthrough season for Cagliari last year as he made 21 apperances in the league, scoring twice and registered one assist, but was unable to prevent the club from suffering the agony of relegation to Serie B.

His form had seen him linked with a move to England as both the Gunners and Blues had reportedly sent scouts to watch the Ghanaian and there was also rumours that Juventus were also in the mix.

The reigning champions of Italy have lost two key midfielders over the summer in Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal, however much like the two London rivals, they must now turn their attentions elsewhere.
