Liverpool ready to take on Juventus for Mario Gotze’s signature this summer

Liverpool are preparing themselves to go up against Serie A champions Juventus this summer in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund playmaker Mario Gotze, according to the Metro.

Gotze enjoyed a strong working relationship with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp during their time together at Dortmund, but the player has struggled to truly establish himself in the Bayern Munich side since leaving in 2013.

Bayern have recently hinted that there could be wholesale changes on the cards at the end of the season when manager Pep Guardiola leaves for Manchester City, and Liverpool are hoping that this could be their chance of snapping up the Germany international.

The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield recently, but reports in Italy are now claiming that Juventus are ready to make their own bid.

Juve believe that the lure of regular Champions League football will be enough to convince Gotze to pick Turin over Liverpool.
