Chelsea transfer talk: 5 clubs keen to sign Blues star despite lengthy goal drought

Posted by

The career of young Chelsea star Patrick Bamford has been very up and down.

Right now, it’s down.

The 22-year-old, who scored 21 goals in 44 games for the MK Dons and 19 in 44 outings for Middlesbrough, has not found the net for anyone in well over 12 months.

Bamford has been loaned out by Chelsea to six different clubs, with Norwich City the latest side to borrow him.

Norwich took Bamford in January after he had failed to score in nine matches for Crystal Palace during the first half of last season.

Bamford didn’t fare any better at Norwich, for whom he played seven times without netting.

April 2015 was the last time Bamford scored – in a 2-1 win for Middlesbrough over Wolves – but, despite his poor form, five clubs are reportedly willing to take him on loan this season.

The Daily Mail claim that Scottish champions Celtic are interested, along with Championship quartet Fulham, QPR, Aston Villa and Wolves.

Celtic have enquired about Bamford, according to the Daily Mail, while the other clubs are simply described as “keen”.
