According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal have met with Bordeaux starlet Malcom’s agents as they step up their pursuit of the Brazilian.
With Alexis Sanchez now in the final six months of his current contract with the Gunners, the likelihood of him leaving the Emirates is seemingly growing.
In turn, they’ll need to replace him to not only appease supporters over losing one of their best players, but also to ensure that they don’t continue to drop off and suffer further disappointment.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal have held a meeting with his agents outside of Bordeaux, while he is said to be valued at around €50m.
The 20-year-old must be doing something right, as the Metro note how Man Utd and Tottenham are also interested, and his form this season would certainly have attracted more attention.
Malcom has scored seven goals and provided five assists in 21 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, and so while he still has plenty to prove and a lot of development in his game, he’s shown promising early signs.
Naturally, the step up to the Premier League will be completely different challenge, but depending on how talks now progress, he could be tasked with being an important figure at Arsenal moving forward.
Losing Sanchez is going to be a blow, as although he hasn’t replicated his top form this season, last year he showed that he can be a talismanic figure for the Gunners up front.
In turn, seeing him leave and potentially join a rival on a free transfer this summer will be painful for many supporters, and so it’s down to the club to get his replacement right and continue to rebuild the squad in order to ensure that it’s capable of challenging for honours and reaching their objectives moving forward.
