Liverpool prepare £132m bid for Manchester United transfer target as Klopp looks to reinvest Coutinho money

Liverpool are reportedly preparing a £132million bid for the transfer of Real Madrid star and Manchester United target Marco Asensio in a bid to replace Philippe Coutinho.

BBC Sport claimed Liverpool raked in a cool £142m from the sale of Coutinho to Barcelona this January, and that should give Jurgen Klopp plenty to work with in the transfer market.

The Brazil international is undoubtedly a big loss for the Reds, but it seems Klopp has some ambitious replacements in mind as he looks to raid Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Earlier today, Don Balon claimed Liverpool would be willing to pay as much as £88m for Gareth Bale, while another report from the same source now links them with Asensio.

Marco Asensio has become a rumoured transfer target for Liverpool

Don Balon claim Real are not prepared to accept this offer, though it remains to be seen if Liverpool could up their bid.

Another recent report from Don Balon again linked Asensio with a possible move away from the Bernabeu to the Premier League, with the Spanish outlet claiming Manchester United would request him as part of any deal for David de Gea joining Madrid.

It’s little surprise to see such a talented young player in demand at the moment after his superb breakthrough last season.

On top of that, Asensio has seen less playing time in Zinedine Zidane’s side this term and it makes sense that other top clubs would seek to take advantage of that by trying to lure him away.
