When Barcelona could officially unveil €19m+ fourth summer signing

It’s been a busy summer transfer window for Barcelona, and they are reportedly all set to make Arturo Vidal their fourth new arrival next week.

The Catalan giants have already officially unveiled Clement Lenglet, Arthur and Malcom as new signings as they look to build on their domestic double last season and sustain their success.

In order to do so, midfield reinforcements were arguably still needed having lost both Andres Iniesta and Paulinho this summer, and particularly with the latter moving on, it arguably left the La Liga champions with a lack of tenacity and energy in that department to offer a different dynamic.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Vidal will now arrive to fill that void with the Chilean international said to be joining in a €19m+ deal while he is being tipped to be unveiled by the club on Monday.

The 31-year-old has gained a wealth of experience during spells with Juventus and Bayern Munich, collecting seven league titles in his two spells with those two European giants and so he has undoubtedly developed a winning pedigree.

Whether he has the requisite level of technical quality and creative class to fit in at the Nou Camp remains to be seen, but his other strengths including his physicality, combativeness and attacking threat could all arguably be seen as ideal strengths for Valverde’s side.

While seemingly adopting a strategy to target young players this summer given Lenglet, Arthur and Malcom are all in their early 20s, Barcelona have opted to go for experience on this occasion and it could prove to be crucial in defending their domestic crown while also looking to show improvement in the Champions League.
