Liverpool and Belgium star Simon Mignolet is wanted by Serie A side Napoli this summer according to the shot-stopper’s agent.
This is according to the Express, who note that Napoli are a rumoured to be keen on the former Sunderland ‘keeper, and that the player’s agent has confirmed that despite their interest, Napoli haven’t yet made their move for the player.
The report also states that Mignolet’s agent told Radio Kiss Kiss that Napoli’s interest “is not new”, and that the club “like Mignolet”, with him also stating that “we will wait over the next few days to see if they will present an offer”.
Mignolet leaving Liverpool wouldn’t be a big blow for the Reds at all, as the Belgian international probably won’t feature for the club much this summer considering they already have both Loris Karius and Alisson on their books.
The 30-year-old struggled to hold down a first team place with Jurgen Klopp’s side last season, as he only made 19 appearances in the league, sharing the spoils with German teammate Karius.
When given first team opportunities by Klopp, Mignolet didn’t do all that well, as the Belgian only managed to keep seven clean sheets in 19 league games, a poor return for a ‘keeper playing for a club like Liverpool.
Mignolet leaving would be a good move from the Reds, now all that remains is to see if Napoli can back up their interest with a firm offer for the ace.
