Sergio Ramos is one of a number of Real Madrid star who doesn’t want to see youngster Vinicius Jr claim a starting spot in Los Blacos’ side this season.

This is according to Diario Gol, who note that Ramos, as well as Karim Benzema and other unnamed stars, would rather see Marco Asensio start over the Brazilian this campaign.

The report also notes that club president Florentino Perez is keen to see the 18-year-old get some first team minutes under his belt this year, something that Ramos and Co certainly don’t seem to agree with.

Ramos and Co aren’t keen on seeing Vinicius claim some first team minutes at Real this season

It’s actually fair to see why Ramos and his Real teammates wouldn’t want to see Vinicius thrusted into the club’s starting XI just yet, as the winger is still only 18.

A fair few have been labelling the Brazilian as the eventual heir to Cristiano Ronaldo’s throne at the Santiago Bernabeu, something that has surely heaped pressure onto the shoulders of the youngster.

It’d be smart for Julen Lopetegui to ease Vinicius into his Real side this year, however constantly starting the starlet may tire him out, and that could stunt his growth given the player is so early on in his career.

Only time will tell if Vinicius is given first team minutes at Real this season, something that could end up doing his progress as a player more harm than good come the end of the year.
