Manchester United and other interested clubs look closer to sealing the potential transfer of Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba.
This is because, according to a report from Spanish outlet Don Balon, the defender has seemingly now made up his mind about leaving his current club.
The 29-year-old remains one of the finest players in the world in his position, but does not seem set to agree a new contract at the Nou Camp.
Alba’s current deal expires at the end of next season, and Don Balon have recently linked him with United, stating he’d likely cost around €50million.
This latest Don Balon report also links Paris Saint-Germain as potential suitors for the Spain international, though the news that he seems to have decided not to stay at Barca is still surely good news from a United point of view.
MUFC could surely do with more options on that left-hand side, with Luke Shaw improving this season but still not the most reliable in terms of fitness and form.
Alba is also hugely experienced and proven at the highest level, so could be ideal to come in as an upgrade on Ashley Young, who continues to get a lot of games in defence for the Red Devils.
