Jurgen Klopp furious with Liverpool owners for betraying the values that saw him choose them over Man United

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was reportedly furious with the club’s owners FSG for signing up to the European Super League, and for the timing of the announcement.

The Reds join fellow Premier League clubs Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal in joining the new breakaway competition, which has been met with almost unanimous criticism from fans and pundits alike.

It seemed clear last night that Klopp was not impressed by the move, and now The Athletic report that he was ‘furious’ with how club chiefs had operated on this.

The German tactician is described in the piece as a football romantic, and they state that part of the reason he chose the Liverpool job over Man Utd was because of their history and values.

It seems unsurprising that Klopp might see the Super League as a major betrayal of his values, and it will be interesting to see if this plan can really go ahead after such a strong reaction against it.
