Tottenham plotting £20m January move for Bundesliga ace

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing the Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie.

According to a report from the Sun, the Londoners are weighing up a £20 million January move for the 21-year-old center-back who impressed during the World Cup in Qatar.

The Ecuador international is a prodigious talent with a big future ahead of him. Hincapie has the potential to develop into a top-class player and Antonio Conte could certainly use someone like him in his backline.

The likes of Davidson Sanchez and Clement Lenglet have been largely underwhelming this season and Tottenham need to sign a reliable center half as a partner for Cristian Romero. Sanchez is expected to leave the club at the end of the season and Lenglet will return to his parent club Barcelona upon the expiry of his loan deal.

Conte needs to add defensive depth to his side and it remains to be seen whether the German outfit are prepared to let their prized young prospect leave this month. Apparently, Tottenham could look to sign the player this month and loan him back to Leverkusen for the remainder of the season.

Such a deal could be attractive for the German outfit and it remains to be seen whether Bayer Leverkusen are prepared to thrash out an agreement in the next few days.

The opportunity to join Tottenham will be a tempting proposition for Hincapie and working with a world-class manager like Antonio Conte will only help him improve and fulfill his tremendous potential.

If the Londoners managed to sign him for a measly fee of £20 million, it could look like a major bargain in the long run.
