Man City open the bidding for talented defender but face stiff competition from PSG and PL rivals

There’s still plenty of time left for Man City to overhaul Arsenal this season and earn another Premier League title, and whether or not they do so, the club are still likely to want to improve their squad.

To that end, they’ve already made a bid for young Hadjuk Split defender, Luka Vuskovic, according to 90Min.

It seems as though they won’t get things all their own way though, given that the outlet note that PSG have also made a bid and Manchester United, Newcastle, Chelsea and Tottenham all have an interest.

Other clubs across the continent including Real Madrid are apparently keeping a watchful eye on the situation.

At just 16 years of age, it’s clear Vuskovic is making quite the impression around Europe.

According to transfermarkt, the defender has made 14 appearances this season for Hajduk’s U19 side, and scored six goals. Pretty impressive for a centre-back.

Pep Guardiola has been known to play youngsters if they’re good enough

It’s clear that whomever manages to get their hands on the player will have him in mind for the future rather than the present.

Though he has played for the first team too according to 90Min, with respect, the Croatian leagues are as strong as the Premier League or Ligue Un.

That said, if a player is good enough, managers like Pep Guardiola have shown they’ll give them chances.

Even as far back as his stint at Barcelona, he was brave enough to bring a virtually unknown 20-year-old Sergio Busquets into the first-team squad and look how that turned out.

There’s still a way to go before any deal is concluded for Vuskovic, however. That’s because 90Min report the €12m offer is too low and, as of this moment, the youngster is happy where he is.
