Liverpool offer player to Euro giants as they plot major transfer revamp

Liverpool have reportedly offered Thiago Alcantara to Atletico Madrid ahead of a possible shake-up in midfield in the summer transfer window.

The Reds signed Thiago from Bayern Munich back in 2020, but he hasn’t quite had the desired impact in his time at Anfield.

According to Todo Fichajes, Liverpool would now be ready to let go of the 32-year-old, and have offered him the chance to move back to La Liga with Atletico Madrid.

One imagines Alcantara could still be a tempting signing for someone like Atletico, provided the price is right, and it could go some way to helping the Merseyside giants fund the signings they need in midfield.

It’s been a hugely frustrating campaign at LFC, and it makes sense to look into offloading ageing players like this and bringing in some younger talent.

Thiago Alcantara in action for Liverpool

Writing exclusively for CaughtOffside recently, Ben Jacobs stated that Liverpool had been keen on Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, though they could now set that budget aside for multiple signings instead.

The reporter mentioned interest in the likes of Alexis Mac Allister, Mason Mount and Ryan Gravenberch, and it could be that Jurgen Klopp will feel he needs two or three of those if Thiago ends up leaving, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Naby Keita also look exit-bound as they are set to become free agents at the end of the season.

  1. Indeed. He needs to go too much of a show down and very little action. He will settle there. A few games a year is not enough for Liverpool shirt. Odd occasions is definitely a no no. I saw from this man a few passes and one goal. Go go go.
