Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has been linked with clubs like Newcastle United and Arsenal in recent weeks.

The two Premier League clubs are expected to make a move for the Belgian international midfielder at the end of the season. A report from Football Insider states that Everton have already decided on his asking price and the likes of Newcastle and Arsenal will have to pay £60 million to sign the player.

Everton paid £33 million for the Belgian and he has established himself as a key player for the Toffees. Given his impressive performances in the Premier League, it is no surprise that Everton are looking to make a substantial profit on him.

It will be interesting to see if Arsenal and Newcastle are prepared to pay up.

Arsenal need a quality defensive midfielder like him, especially with the future of Thomas Partey uncertain at the club. The Ghana international has had persistent injury problems and the Gunners should look to bring in long-term replacement.

Onana is certainly capable of playing for the biggest clubs in the country and he will help Arsenal improve defensively and his arrival would also allow the creative players to operate with more freedom.

At Newcastle, he could be the ideal partner for Sandro Tonali at the base of the midfield. Having two quality defensive midfielders in the side will allow Newcastle to rotate their midfield options and it would also help players like Bruno Guimaraes to operate with more creative freedom.

The 22-year-old could justify the investment in the long run, and it remains to be seen where he ends up.
