David Moyes is under severe pressure at West Ham and the Hammers could replace the Scot with Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna.
That is according to the Guardian, who report that Crystal Palace have failed with an approach to hire McKenna as a replacement for Roy Hodgson.
The 76-year-old is struggling to turn the Eagles’ bad form around and another veteran coach under pressure is Moyes at West Ham following Sunday’s 6-0 defeat against Arsenal, which marked seven games without a win in all competitions for the East London club.
The Scottish coach is out of contract at the end of the season and if results don’t improve in the coming weeks, the former Man United boss might not even reach that point.
McKenna is one man on the Hammers’ list of targets as the 37-year-old has done a remarkable job in his first senior management role at Ipswich, steering the Tractor Boys into the Championship following a memorable 2022/23 League One campaign.
Ipswich could follow that up by getting promoted to the Premier League this season as they are fourth in the Championship and are six points off of the automatic promotion places, while also having two games in hand on Leeds.
McKenna has also held roles at Tottenham and Man United, coaching Spurs’ U18 side in 2009 and was assistant to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.
This would be an exciting appointment for West Ham but there are still a lot of things that need to play out over the coming weeks and months.
