Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth has been linked with the move away from the club and Manchester United are hoping to complete his appointment soon.
The Red Devils are expected to pay compensation and appoint them as their new sporting director.
Meanwhile, Newcastle need to bring in a quality replacement for Ashworth who has done an exemplary job in the transfer market for them.
One of the names linked with the Premier League club is of Michael Edwards. Edwards did a phenomenal job at Liverpool bringing in top-quality players for reasonable amounts of money. He also did well to maximise the value of the Liverpool players while selling them for substantial fees.
Edwards is reportedly a close friend of the Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe and it remains to be seen whether that helps Newcastle secure his services.
Edwards recently turned down the opportunity to return to Liverpool and it remains to be seen whether he’s open to another Premier League job. There is no doubt that he would be a quality appointment and he has already proven himself at the highest level with a big club like Liverpool.
