Arsenal to pay €100m+ for 28-year-old hit-man with 13 goals in 25 games

It’s no secret that Arsenal will be in the market for a top striker during the course of the summer transfer window.

Whilst the Gunners haven’t exactly struggled for goals, as their last two away games prove – 6-0 vs West Ham and 5-0 vs Burnley – they still lack a natural centre-forward.

Brentford’s Ivan Toney is a name that’s long been mentioned in dispatches, however, the North Londoners could well be turning their attentions to a 28-year-old former Bees striker.

According to Fichajes, Aston Villa ace, Ollie Watkins, is certainly a player of interest to Arsenal.

WhoScored note that he already has an impressive 13 goals in 25 Premier League games this season.

They’re numbers that Toney would almost certainly have been close to or matched had he not been banned for the majority of the 2023/24 campaign.

The issue for Arsenal, however, will be one of cost, as the outlet note that even if Villa were willing to cash in on the player, which is unlikely, they would almost certainly required a figure well north of €100m.

Current transfer record for the club was last summer’s £100m capture (ESPN) of former West Ham captain, Declan Rice.

That could seem like small change if they’re to land Watkins who, perhaps, wouldn’t be averse to a move back to London where he’d spent the previous three years of his career before joining the Villains.
