Football consultant confident Liverpool star will leave Reds this summer

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness believes it is only a matter of time before Mo Salah leaves Liverpool and joins a club in Saudi Arabia’s lucrative Pro League.

Heavily linked with a late transfer to the Middle East last year, Liverpool saw Salah’s future scrutinised during the closing stages of last summer’s transfer window. And while an Anfield exit may have been on the cards, the Egyptian failed to make the move after his employers refused to entertain offers.

However, despite the 31-year-old’s failed move nearly 12 months ago, with this season coming to a close, speculation regarding his future is beginning to mount once again.

Consequently, rumoured to still be top of the Pro League’s wish list, Salah remains a priority target for Pro League chiefs.

Will Mo Salah leave Liverpool in the summer?

And according to Wyness, who now works as an advisor to the top clubs, Liverpool’s number 11 ‘probably will’ make the switch this summer.

“Liverpool have obviously paid Mo Salah’s amortisation down,” Wyness told Football Insider.

“So there will be money available there if he goes this summer.

“I think he probably will go to Saudi from what I understand.”

Talk of Salah’s potential exit coincides with Jurgen Klopp’s shock decision to leave the Reds at the end of the season. However, the club have been quick to distance themselves from any suggestions the German’s decision is a direct result of any summer transfer activity.

During his seven years on Merseyside, Salah, who has just 18 months left on his deal, has scored 205 goals and registered 89 assists in 333 games in all competitions.
