£85million star addresses rumours about future amid Arsenal and Chelsea links

Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres has stated that he is not too concerned about his future after reports have linked him to a move to Arsenal and Chelsea.

After leaving Championship team Coventry City for Sporting last summer for an estimated €21 million (£17.9 million), the 25-year-old has become one of Europe’s most prolific attackers.

In only 36 games for Sporting this season in all competitions, Gyokeres has contributed to an incredible 50 goals, scoring 36 of them and dishing out 14 assists.

It makes sense that Gyokeres’ outstanding form has attracted the attention of several elite European teams; among them are Arsenal and Chelsea, who are rumoured to have shown a serious interest in the striker.

Arsenal and Chelsea are keen to sign a striker

Prior to the summer transfer window, Gyokeres has been Arsenal’s top target in the attacking position. North Londoners will look to add a new striker, as suggested by Gunners manager Mikel Arteta.

Man United, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea have all been predicted to make a high-profile bid for moves for Gyokeres.

Gyokeres to Arsenal?

The striker has claimed he is “extremely well” at Sporting and is not concerned about his future until the summer.

The striker is paying no attention to Arsenal and Chelsea rumours

In an interview with the Swedish news organization Fotbollskanalen, Gyokeres discussed the rumours circulating concerning his future, saying:

“It’s a sign that I’ve performed well. But it’s not something I take too seriously, since it’s just speculation. But of course it’s fun.

“We’ll see this summer. It’s not something I know about myself, what will happen. I enjoy Sporting extremely well and feel no stress about the summer coming quickly.”

Gyokeres added: “It is clear that what I have done has attracted attention, but it is not really my focus in everyday life. But of course it’s fun that I have fans who appreciate what I’ve done.”

The Sweden international, who was born in Stockholm, reportedly has a €100 million (£85.5 million) release clause in his Sporting Lisbon contract, which runs out in the summer of 2028.
