Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

The English midfielder is set to enter the final year of his contract at the club and the Blues could cash in on him to balance their books.

Gallagher’s homegrown status means his sale would be recorded as pure profit in Chelsea’s finances.

Tottenham and Newcastle United have been linked with a move for the Chelsea midfielder.

However, according to Football Insider, the Blues midfielder has no intention of joining Newcastle United, even if Spurs could still remain in contention as the player’s preference seems to be to stay in London.

The 24-year-old Gallagher is a product of the Blues’ development program.

This season, he has been a key member of Pochettino’s team, making 49 appearances in all competitions and leading the team on many occasions.

The Magpies are keen on the idea of signing the midfielder, who is set to become a free agent next summer.

But Gallagher has no intention of leaving Stamford Bridge in a favour of a move to St. James’ Park.

Conor Gallagher has been impressive for Chelsea this season.

The midfielder wants to extend his stay at Chelsea and continue playing for the club he joined as a youngster.

If he is unable to stay at Chelsea, then he would prefer a move to a London club, according to Football Insider.

The report states that Tottenham are leading the race to sign the midfielder and being a London based club, they could become Gallagher’s choice as well.

Chelsea have completely turned around their season after spending most of the season in the midtable position.

Chelsea could qualify for Europa League

The Blues are now in line to qualify for Europe and could even finish in fifth place ahead of Tottenham if results go their way on the final day of the season.

Ideally, the west-London club would want to keep the midfielder at the club as he is a useful asset considering his performances this season.

Their financial situation could force them to cash in on the midfielder this summer against the wish of the player.
