With another transfer window almost upon us, it isn’t a surprise to understand that Chelsea will again be one of the busiest clubs this summer.

Under the ownership of Todd Boehly, the Blues have consistently bought and sold in the summer, and with the club under pressure to meet the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules once again, they will need to sell players before June 30th.

Captain for the majority of Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure at Stamford Bridge, Conor Gallagher apparently remains a player that could be sold given the expected transfer fee that Chelsea could expect.

The Independent (subscription required), note that Aston Villa are looking to take advantage of the situation by offering the England international Champions League football next season, and whilst it’s believed that the player would prefer to stay in West London, this no longer would appear to be an option for him.

The outlet also suggest that one of the reasons that Pochettino left the club was because of board insistence that Gallagher would have to be sold.

For a club that want to be considered amongst Europe’s elite, they do appear to be going about things in completely the wrong way. Very much a case of two steps forward and one back under Boehly.

It’s unlikely to be only the midfielder that they lose this summer too, with other homegrown talent such as Trevoh Chalobah expected to be ease of the exit door at Stamford Bridge.

Just how much the first-team dynamic will change as a result is unknown at this point, and that is the type of situation that Enzo Maresca will be walking into with his eyes wide open.

It’s going to be the toughest of assignments for the Italian who has never worked in the English top-flight as a manager, and it remains to be seen if he ends up being just another notch on Boehly’s bedpost.

  1. A great chance for him to play Champions league football these opportunities are few and far between something that Spurs can’t offer, he’s a bit raw bags of energy someone that Emery would improve a lot, having said that not sure that it’s a starter only time will tell.

  2. Really not good enough and borders on being a liability with his discipline…

Let Tottenham have him so we can focus on better players that are going to add to our squad quality
