Newcastle United could appoint former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri according to latest reports.

The Magpies are the frontrunners to appoint the Italian manager, should they let current manager Eddie Howe leave the club, according to Tutto Mercato Web.

The Premier League club is currently considering their options and should their plans decide letting Howe leave, Sarri is ready to takeover at St. James’ Park.

When it comes to the fight for Sarri’s services, the English club’s owners hope to beat both West Ham and Torino.

The Italian manager has shown his interest in the Newcastle job.

Though several issues both on and off the field forced the 65-year-old former Chelsea manager to leave the team in March, he enjoyed a successful few years at Lazio.

While there are rumors of Sarri returning to Juventus, he is already considering proposals from Newcastle and West Ham.
