Turkish giants want Fulham’s Frei.

Galatasaray are reportedly eyeing a deal for Fulham midfielder Karim Frei, according to Turkish website Maraton.

The 19-year-old, who is of Swiss-Turkish descent, recently switched allegiances from Switzerland to Turkey, having climbed the youth football ladder with one and playing full blown international football with the other.

Frei began his career at Grasshopper Zurich before joining Fulham in 2010. He broke into The Cottagers first team last season and made 25 appearances, but has seen his playing time cut short in West London this year. He spent the start of the season on loan at Cardiff City and upon his return he’s managed to feature just six times as injury has also played its part in keeping him out of the squad.

Galatasaray have reportedly sent sporting director Bulent Tulun to England to check on Frei as well as run the rule over Reading midfielder, Jem Karacan, who they are also rumoured to be interested in.

Coach, Fatih Terim confirmed the club’s interest by saying; “We scouted Kerim Frei last season as well. We have been scouting Frei for over a year and remain interested. We will make an offer for him at the end of the season.”

Frei is reportedly worried about his place in the Turkish national side and is wary of following a similar path to that of Colin Kazim-Richards who is now struggling at Blackburn Rovers.
