Liverpool are reportedly stepping up their efforts in pursuit of Marseille winger Andre Ayew according to Goal.com.

The Anfield side are said to be in negotiations with 23 year old who has been at Marseille since the age of 15 and this source believes an offer of €13m (£11m) could be enough to secure the services of the Ghana international.

Ayew has been a first team regular at the Stade Velodrome following loan spells at Lorient and Arles-Avignon and would presumably take some persuading to leave Marseille given that Elie Baup’s side secured a Champions League berth after finishing as runners-up in Ligue 1 last season.

Last term Ayew made 35 Ligue 1 starts and has started each of the club’s three fixtures this term and with Marseille sitting pretty at the top of the French top tier it seems a move away this summer is very unlikely.

Brendan Rodgers has already improved his attacking options this summer with the acquisitions of La Liga pair Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto but may feel that an adaptable talent like Ayew, who can play out wide or as an orthodox striker, could be worth pursuing before the transfer window slams shut.
