Here’s the most expensive Premier League team ever assembled in each position.

Obviously at £32m, a player like Robinho is more expensive than Joleon Lescott, but we couldn’t really slot the sulky Brazilian in at left-back!

Here’s what we’ve gone for:

football formations

This team cost Premier League clubs a quite offensive £347m….

That’s enough to buy four Gareth Bales, 43 Coutinhos, or wait for it: 173 Michus!

Looking at this XI, only Luiz, Ferdinand, De Gea and Aguero can be regarded as genuine successes – while Fernandinho, Willian and Ozil still have time to prove themselves having only arrived in England this summer.

At £50m, Torres has to be regarded as the biggest flop, but at £35m, Carroll is probably the stupidest buy in the list. Carroll had only been playing in the Premier League for four months before Liverpool wasted their Torres money on the ungainly England striker!

The team contains three Brazilians, three Englishman, two Spaniards, an Argentine, a German, and a Portuguese.

Rio Ferdinand has made the most Premier League appearances, and also won the most trophies with Manchester United.

Chelsea bought four of these players, City bought three, United bought two, while Liverpool and Arsenal bought one each!
