Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move to sign Udinese striker Luis Muriel according to the Daily Express.

The 22 year old came to the fore last term following a successful spell at Lecce, by netting 11 goals in 15 starts for Udinese last term and has started this season with two goals in his opening three Serie A starts during the current campaign.

Udinese reportedly feel that Muriel may be lured away from the Stadio Friuli and have planned a move to bring in Brazilian youngster Bruno Gomes, who had a trial with Man United last term just in case they fail to keep hold of the Colombian international striker.

Liverpool have managed fairly well during Luis Suarez’s ten match ban, punishment the former Ajax man was handed following his biting of Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic last season, though goals have been fairly hard to come by this term.

Rodgers has seen his side secure ten points from the opening five matches of the season but have managed just five goals in the process, four of them coming from England man Daniel Sturridge. Summer signing Iago Aspas has failed to make an impact and Fabio Borini was loaned out to Sunderland so there is perhaps room for another striking addition regardless of whether Suarez leaves for pastures new.
