Chelsea and Liverpool will regret failure to win Premier League title, says Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says his own side, Chelsea and Liverpool will be most disappointed at not winning the Premier League title, having come so close.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger feels that Chelsea and Liverpool will be as gutted as his own team at not clinching the Premier League title if Manchester City go on to win their second success in three years this season.

Wenger feels that the Premier League was very closely contested this season, with all the teams in the top four in the running for the title, and the Frenchman believes that Chelsea and Liverpool, who have been in the hunt until the very end, will rue the near misses.

Wenger was quoted in the Daily Mail as saying, “Every other team in the top four will be frustrated by not winning the league this year.

“It’s been a very interesting title race. You feel Liverpool were very unlucky because they had a fantastic second half of the season. City and Liverpool’s offensive potential has been fantastic. That’s where we need to improve.”

While Chelsea no longer stand a chance of winning the league title, Liverpool will need to win their game against Newcastle and hope that City lose theirs at home against West Ham on the final day of the season to steal the league title from out of Manchester City’s grasp.

Chelsea’s record against their top four rivals was superb, and Jose Mourinho will regret his side dropping points against the teams ranked far below them.
