Check in to Croatia vs Mexico

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been urged to act quickly if he wishes to sign 20-year old Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic this summer, reports talkSPORT.

The North Irishman has been made aware of interest from European champions Real Madrid, who are believed to be impressed with the Croatian international’s potential and see him as a long term prospect at the Bernabeu.

Kovacic is unhappy with not yet having been made a central figure in Italy, and wants to further his ambitions by moving to a top European side next season.

Liverpool’s recent return to the Champions League, and their desire to promote bright young players could make Anfield the ideal destination for Kovacic, but an offer from one of the world’s biggest clubs in Real Madrid might be too hard to turn down for a youngster still looking to make a name for himself.

Kovacic has 12 national team caps for Croatia, and is currently a part of the nation’s World Cup squad playing in Brazil.
