Juventus are set to complicate Liverpool’s chase of Sporting Lison left back Marcos Rojo, according to reports from talkSPORT, with the Italian champions ready to move in with an offer for the Argentinian World Cup player.

Rojo had emerged as a potential alternative to Alberto Moreno, with Liverpool’s pursuit of the Sevilla left back having been held up with both clubs unable to agree on a valuation of the young Spaniard.

The Sporting Lisbon man is likely to be cheaper and his performances for Argentina at the World Cup have been impressive – albeit the former Spartak Moscow and Estudiantes player looks more comfortable going forward than he does at defending his own goal.

That is the whole philosophy that defined Liverpool’s 2013/14 season, however, meaning that he is likely to fit in well – whilst Juventus manager Antonio Conte is known for his propensity to use wingbacks in a five-man defensive system.

The 24 year-old is almost certain to leave Portugal, but the intervention of the Old Lady is unlikely to please Brendan Rodgers, who will be keen to sort out his troublesome left back berth as soon as he can.

With the capture of Adam Lallana in the bag, it is the back line that perhaps needs Liverpool’s attention next, with the Reds having shipped far too many goals in the Premier League last season.
