Loic Remy is set to join Liverpool having agreed a five year contract with the Anfield side after his QPR side had accepted an £8.5m bid for the player according to Sky Sports.

The Metro claim that the 27 year old is on his way to Merseyside to complete the move with a deal likely to be ‘swiftly’ completed.

Remy scored 14 goals for Newcastle United last term and had a decent half season at Loftus Road following his initial move to the Premier League back in January 2013, during which the former Marseille man scored six goals in 14 appearances.

Newcastle United were keen to secure Remy on a permanent deal and Tottenham were also said to be keen but the French international was said to be keen to secure Champions League football, hence his seemingly imminent move to Liverpool.

Having sold Luis Suarez to Barcelona Brendan Rodgers will understandably be keen to strengthen his attack and has already welcomed in Southampton veteran Rickie Lambert as well as young Serbian winger Lazar Markovic.

Harry Redknapp managed to guide his west London side to an instant return to the Premier League but seem ready set to lose Remy nonetheless.
