Legendary Juventus player, turned club director Pavel Nedved has offered a damning verdict on Manchester United and Chelsea’s hopes of poaching two of their most talented players this summer.
Reports in Italy claim that Nedved has told both players that they will be staying put this summer, leaving the duo of Premier League giants disappointed.
Vidal has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford to join Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United revolution for several weeks, with the 27-year-old Chilean seemingly keen on a new challenge after leading Juve to consecutive Serie A titles.
Pogba, 21, who impressed for France at the World Cup, has been linked with a £60m move to Chelsea, but the deal has looked increasingly unlikely in recent days, with Blues manager Jose Mourinho claiming that there would be no further business at Stamford Bridge this summer.
Now the former-Czech international has told Tottosport that the club do not intend to sell: “The transfer strategy does not change,” said Nedved. “We still do not intend on selling any of our important players.”
Following the dramatic resignation and departure of Juventus manager Antonio Conte earlier this week, speculation began to suggest that his exit was linked to the club’s transfer policy, but Nedved has moved quickly to squash those rumours: “Anyone who thinks Antonio Conte resigned due to the transfer strategy is wrong. Our plan is clear: we want to keep all our best players, including Vidal and Pogba.
“We don’t want to sell anyone, especially not Vidal. Of course, if a particularly high offer arrived then we’d have to think about it, but we don’t want to sell our champions. We want to be competitive in the Champions League and the only sales will be players who are not part of our plans.”
