The 20-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to several top Premier League clubs in recent weeks with the Blues being prepared to match any bid that Manchester City make in order to land the young star.

The Toffees have now slapped a £50 million valuation on Barkley in the hope of deterring interest in the midfielder.

When asked if Everton have recieved any bids for Barkley, Martinez replied: “No. There’s nothing to comment on from my point of view, it’s a rumour and we’ll leave it there.

“I’ve spoken in the past about interest, we’ll take it as a compliment and move on. We just want Ross fully fit.”

The England international is currently sidelined with a medial ligament injury but Martinez has revealed that the playmaker has began light training and should be available for selection soon.

“He’s recovering quicker than we thought but it’s still in the early stages,” he said.

“Medicine and football don’t go hand in hand but he’s doing really well.

“He’s starting to run, which is something we didn’t expect until next week. I expect it will be a few weeks still but he’s well ahead of where we expected and it’s all positive.”

The future of Barkley could be one of the big talking points next summer with Manchester United and Liverpool reportedly ready to rival the West Londoners and City for the talented midfielder.
