The youngster made the move to Anfield from Bayer Leverkusen, though it has emerged that he could have rejoined his old club Bayern, whom he only left for Leverkusen in the summer of 2013.

However, the highly-rated 20-year-old instead opted to try a new challenge and was impressed by Liverpool after holding talks with Reds manager Brendan Rodgers.

Can had been promised a place in the Bayern team by Pep Guardiola if he’d stayed for one more season at Leverkusen, though a move to England was clearly more appealing for the versatile German Under-21 international.

Injuries have held up Can’s progress since his move to the Premier League this season, but he could certainly make a great impact at his new club if he fulfills his tremendous potential.

Can only made six senior appearances for Bayern before leaving the club, though they too seemingly rate him highly as they were keen to persuade him to come back after learning of Liverpool’s interest in signing him.
